At the beginning of the financial year when we were advised that we needed to LIVE IN COLOUR, Still Bay decided to use the colours of the rainbow to celebrate our theme. It was decided that at each gathering the groups would decorate the gathering place according to a colour that the convenor chose. In some cases, the convenors asked that the ladies come dressed in the colour of the meeting.
Arts and Crafts hosted the first meeting of the year – March 2025, showcasing the colour blue. The tables were beautifully decorated in shades of blue.
Blue stands for calm, peace and stability and is associated with the sky and sea. It also symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom and serenity.
Health chose Yellow as their colour. Here again the entire gathering place was beautifully decorated in yellow. They use lemons which made a beautiful show.
Yellow is the third colour of the rainbow and represents the brilliance of the sun, happiness, energy and enlightenment. Yellow can be a sign of clarity and accuracy when you are confused or a symbol of heaven and the spiritual world. It is also associated with the Archangel Jophiel and angel of wisdom and thoughts.
We then moved onto the colour Green. Agriculture and Gardening depict the colour green. The tables and gathering place were decorated with green ivy, large shells and fairy lights. Many ladies came in green attire. The large shells were linked to the presentation by Cape nature around the protection of shells and fish in the Still Bay area.
Green is the fourth colour of the rainbow, it symbolizes nature, growth, harmony, renewal, tranquility and new beginnings.
June is the start of the citrus months where we see oranges being stocked in the shops. Public Affairs chose orange for their gathering which brought happiness, brightness and flamboyancy to the room. The tables were decorated with orange tea towels and sweets as gifts.
Orange is the second colour of the rainbow. It is a warm colour associated with positive feelings and emotions. Orange makes people feel happy, friendly and comfortable.
Orange also represents endurance, perseverance and strength. One gets different shades of orange which have different meanings.
Burnt Orange – Tension and
Dark Orange – Ambition
Golden Orange – Self-control
Peachy Orange – Good manners
We lit the Friendship candle for the very first time at a gathering which was in honour of all the VLV ladies and ladies of country who care for each other and their families.
Lifestyle choose the colour indigo for their gathering. The tables were beautifully decorated in different shades of indigo and were laden with indigo decorated cupcakes. Yummy !!!
Indigo is a deep blue-purple colour the symbolizes mystery, spirituality and depth.
Education and Culture choose Pink, although this colour is not in the rainbow. It, however, is a lighter shade of red blended with white. The colour pink symbolizes love, romance, friendship and compassion. Spring was celebrated at the gathering with pink blossoms and flowers. The ladies wore beautifully decorated hats.
The highlight of Live in Colour was showcased at Still Bay’s annual function where Natasha Joubert entertained the guests with spiritual songs and messages. The hall and tables were beautifully decorated in the colours of the rainbow.
