Voorwaar ‘n wonderlike gebaar, dankie Gerda!

On 17 September, Esther Jacobs, Communications and Conservation Specialist, passionate storyteller, advocate for Nature, and self-proclaimed ‘aquaphile’, visited Klein-Brak during the Agriculture & Horticulture meeting (convenor Cecilia Pieterse). Ester worked for Earth Legacy Foundation and Keep Fin Alive, partnered with local dive centres, businesses, and tourism. She is a volunteer marine animal rescue and seabird rehabilitation officer teaching everyone the importance of white sharks in the ocean. The theme of the day was South African ‘boere jolyt’ (in keeping with the 2024 branch theme namely – a visit to different countries). As this was the first gathering after our Congress, Lydie also gave feedback on the speakers at that event.

Leola Esterhuizen volg die Klein-Brak-projek, Santa Kleuterskool waar groente geplant is tydens Mandeladag.

20 September, taklede ondersteun die International Beach Clean up by Suiderkruis se parkeerarea in Groot Brakrivier.

21 September, Vrolike Vetties (Calitzdorp branch) hosted their popular pop-up tea garden at the Anglican Chapel on Queen Street. Delicious eats (savoury and sweet) and liquid refreshments were available in the garden. The Chapel was decorated and open to the public.

24 September, taklede deel Erfenisdag-boodskappe

26 September, delivery of tops and tags for the Sweetheart Foundation’s Give the Gift of Mobility (specialised wheelchairs), from our branch and other participating branches. This is an ongoing branch project. The tops do not have to be sorted into colours, but before delivery, we have to sort out all the suitable PLASTIC tops (from milk, water, cool drinks, fruit juice) from the other items, such as pill bottles, plastic pegs, and all kinds of plastic bits that the recycler does not accept (as well as metal tops, till slips, disposable coffee cups and more… 😠). Please put the bread tags into a separate small bag and tie it closed before dropping it, and only drop off CLEAN plastic bottle tops from beverages.
