CHARITY PROJECT – GLOVES FOR HUIS STILBAAI
Every year Carol Scott, Chairlady of Still Bay obtains yarn from a yarn manufacturer. This allows the members of VLV Still Bay to knit articles that we give away to needy people. This year Still Bay embarked on a project, knitting or crocheting fingerless gloves for the residents of the old age home, Huis Stilbaai. The target was to knit a pair of gloves for every resident, which was 121 pairs of gloves.
The members were first encouraged to take part in the fingerless glove knitting competition. The gloves entered would be the members donation. Those who did not take part in the competition, knitted and crocheted gloves from the donated yarns. Our members overwhelmed the management team with the response. Our target was exceeded. Thank You Ladies, you rock.
In June Carol Scott and Louise Jansen presented the gloves to Huis Stilbaai. Lara was equally overwhelmed by the gift of gloves. She immediately started handing these out to the residents.
It is a wonderful feeling to be able to do something meaningful for the Community of Still Bay.
