STILL BAY EMBARKS ON A “TEAMWORK” JOURNEY

1 ST REPORT

Still Bay embarked on a journey on Teamwork. We find that the members work well within their study groups, Management work well together, however the teamwork is not always visible amongst the members as a whole, which should improve. We have included teamwork quotes in our programme to enable members to ponder on.

Definition on Teamwork

Work together to achieve a common goal. The key to a successful team, is when members realize that working together on a project a project is more effective than working alone. Teams are not effective when they divide tasks up and work independently to get the job done faster. Great teamwork is about working together and collaborating to come up with better approaches and ideas.

What does the bible say about Teamwork?

1 THESSALONIANS 5, Verse 11 – Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

What affects Good Teamwork?

Bad Communication– Good Communication is to keep everyone informed, share the correct information with the correct members. Make sure your team knows your Organizational Goals and how they add to the success of the Organization.
Highly Competitive Surroundings– A highly competitive environment discourages members, and they tend to move away and not be part of a team. The result of this is members resign, as they we feel they are placed under unnecessary pressure. We experience the good and bad. Bad, we have had members resign. Good, especially with the competitions, we have seen more participation. Members, who have never taken part in the competition items and never supported our projects are now taking part.
Favoritism– Favoritism creates resentment; Resentment is negative and spreads quickly.
Focusing on more that work or organizational aspects– Take an interest in your members, care about them sincerely, listen to what they have to say and request their points of views, even if you do not agree. Every aspect needs to be considered.
