Reg Morgan, an apiarist (beekeeper) and adjudicator from Queenstown paid a visit to Sterkstroom and shared interesting facts about Honey.
Raw honey taken directly from the hive, is a treasure chest of nutritional value and medicinal remedies. It also makes a sterile, effective and painless wound dressing. It is exceptionally effective for respiratory ailments. Whereas sugar shuts down the immune system, honey will stimulate it into action!
Reg wys verskillende heunings, bv. Sitrus heuning, Weskus heuning (van wilde blommetjies & fynbos), Spekboom heuning vanaf Addo, Makadamia heuning vanaf Natal (waar die brandsmaak van gebrande rietsuiker kenmerkend is), Zambië heuning, en Bloekom heuning vanaf Queenstown & Cathcart omgewing. Heuning botter is baie gewild.
As daar ’n vervaldatum is, is daar stroop by. Heuning verval nooit. As dit sandsuiker, sit in warm water, nie mikrogolf nie. Smeer aan wonde vir genesing.
Reg Morgan deel ook lyste uit met gesondheidsrate wat van heuning gebruik maak.
