COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Members of the Klein-Brakrivier branch attended a meeting of the Frolicking Ladies and the Eden Knitwits, with guest speaker Gerda Groenewald, Branch Manager of Mossel Bay SPCA.
The organisers and Garden Route ambassadors of the 67 Blankets for Mandela Foundation, Ria Potgieter and Jennifer Church, the founder of Frolicking Ladies, Marilyn Collins and the Eden Knitwits have a scarf, beanie, blankets, bed socks and fingerless gloves project underway. This project is to give some warmth to those in need. The items will be distributed in the area under the 67 Blankets Secret Scarf banner in June 2022.
Gerda explained to the group attending the meeting, the inner workings of the Garden Route SPCA. She reiterated the fact that there is no government funding for this important service and that they rely solely on community involvement and contributions. Attending guests donated blankets, toys, collars and much more to the SPCA.
This project will be part of Klein-Brakriver’s community involvement for 2022.
