In the leafy suburb of Rondebosch, the Rondebosch branch, consisting of 12 dedicated members, is active in their community outreach.  At our recent meeting in April service badges were awarded to Aletta Pearce (5 years) and Annette Kitching (40 years)

Some of the members love knitting and our project is, to knit beanies for premature babies and also blankets.  One of the members started knitting small bears, similar to the international knitted Cancer bears. 33 Knitted teddy bears were donated to the grateful Oncology department of the Red Cross Children War Memorial Hospital.  The little patients are using the bears to cuddle when they are scared and missing their homes

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Strand Branch hosted a conference in March.  At our April meeting we celebrated the allocation of three trophies to our branch. Rondebosch Branch received the following trophies: Best Administration; Best Attendance and 3rd highest points in Cookery.

 

Best Administration trophy – A Pearce (secretary); Rina Kotzé (chairperson), S Ward (treasurer)

 

Although we have a few members who participated in the Cookery we were so pleased to receive the trophy for the 3rd highest points in Cookery.
