DONNA CHRISTOPHER writes:

I cannot believe that it is one year ago, since I wrote about our annual Tea Party.

Each year we invite all the residents of Kidd’s Beach and the surrounding villages to come and have tea with us. There is so much laughter and chatting as some of our pensioners do not seem to see each other from one year to the next, so there is a lot of catching up to do.

All members of the CWAA cook and bake to provide a scrumptious tea. More than one hundred villagers attended.

Mary Nel and Company, provided entertainment with a medley of songs from babyhood, through childhood to the present day, with the audience joining in with remembered songs and nursery rhymes. It was very moving.

Then we had our very own Tenor Opera singer, (John Fletcher) accompanied on the piano by Bruce Gardner. Wow what an act, these two have never worked together before, but they created something wonderful, we were treated to a medley of beautiful songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber, little ditties like Mad Dogs and Englishmen, it was altogether wonderful, the audience were very loath to let them leave the stage. We could have listened to them all day.

We placed our usual box for Canaan House (the Care Centre for mentally and physically challenged children) which we support and collected over R700.00.

What a wonderful and memorable day.
